The following features will be available to Elavon merchants onboarded in Canada:
1. Tip Before Card Read - In Canada, unlike the US, customers will be prompted to select their tip prior to inserting their card. Keep in mind that because the tip is determined prior to the transaction it is captured when the payment is complete. It may not be adjusted prior to settling the batch.
2. Interac Debit Payment - Interac Direct Payment (IDP) is Canada’s national debit card service for purchasing of goods and services. For Elavon Canada merchants, debit transactions may now be processed on the Poynt Smart Terminal. Learn more.
3. French Speaking Merchants - Merchants who speak French can now select “French” as their default language on the merchant screen of the Smart Terminal. Learn More.
